COVID-19: Village Support

Last update: 20th February 2022

England has moved to Plan A…

…Stay cautious to protect yourself and others.

Continue to follow safer behaviours to protect yourself and others.

  • Get vaccinated and get your booster dose
  • Let fresh air in if you meet indoors, meeting outdoors is afer
  • Get tested and self-isolate if required
  • You are no longer legally required to wear a face covering. However, the guidelines suggest wearing one in crowded and enclosed spaces where you come into contact with people you do not normally meet.

COVID-19 Scams. There are plenty of these about so please be careful. If you receive an email inviting you for a vaccination please be careful as this is unlikely to be genuine as invites are usually by letter or text. Do not click on links in such an email and never provice personal information on line or over the phone. Remember there is no charge for this vaccination so there would never be a need to provide banking information.

New payment for low earners who are self-isolating. Click here  for more details.

Other stuff:

Green bin collections are being resumed from Monday 1 March on the usual schedule.   The Tattenhall site is open 8am – 4pm except Weds/Thurs for strictly essential waste.  This means that if the items stored at home cause a health and safety risk such as injury, illness or harm to the household then the trip is essential. Otherwise, please store your waste at home until normal services resume.

Some villagers have recently received a letter inviting them to join the group Nextdoor Tiverton.  Before you do commit to this app, please read the Membership terms carefully to ensure you are comfortable with the way they can use your personal data.

A scam going around is people saying they are working with the Red Cross and falsely offering corona-virus tests.  So to be clear if someone claiming to be from the Red cross or any other person is offering tests – ensure you ask for identification .

Some other new financial scams include:

  • ‘Good cause’ scams, where scammers will ask you to invest in good causes such as face masks and hand sanitiser production, often promising lucrative returns.
  • Cold calls, emails, texts or WhatsApp messages telling you that your bank is in trouble due to coronavirus and you need to transfer your money to an alternative bank account.
  • Scammers asking for upfront fees when applying for loans or credit cards that you’ll never receive, in an attempt to exploit people experiencing short-term financial concerns.
