TIVERTON &
TILSTONE FEARNALL
PARISH NEWS
March 2004
Plans are well underway for the History Day which will be
held in the Village Hall on Saturday 20th March which I’m sure will
prove very interesting for all residents.
The day will be opened by Mr Stephen O’Brien MP and I would urge
everyone to try and call in.
The planning application for the three storey live/work
units on the site old Bruce Bedford site at Beeston Brook has been
refused. The Parish Council is glad
that the way of life in the Beeston Brook business area has been preserved and
would like to welcome Renards to the village.
The next meeting of Tiverton and Tilstone Fearnall Parish
Council will be held on Tuesday 9th
March at 7.30pm in Tiverton Village Hall.
The meeting will begin with an Open Forum during which residents are
invited to discuss any matters of interest.

Situation Vacant
The Parish Council was very pleased to have been
accepted for Chester City Council’s Street Orderly Scheme. But we have still had no applicants for the
position of Street Orderly for Tiverton and Tilstone Fearnall. The role will
involve 7 hours per week at £5.33 per hour to consist
primarily of sweeping pavements and litter picking. Equipment and clothing will be supplied. For further details please contact either
Clare Gregory on 732517 or Roger Cheshire on 732059
Drop-In Coffee Mornings
The first of the “Drop-In” Coffee Mornings was held on
Wednesday February 25th in Tiverton Village Hall it was a success
with about 15 people attending. These
events on the last Wednesday of every month are intended as a get together from
10am to 12.30pm for a chat and an opportunity to keep people up to date with
happenings in the area.
We would particularly like people to bring along ideas for
the Parish Plan.
A computer is also available for internet demonstrations.
This is for
everyone, old and young. Hope to see
you there

We are grateful that thanks to a generous donation from WREN
(Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd) a completely new heating system has been
installed in the Church Hall. This
means that the hall is greatly improved as a place in which to meet .
The use of the hall is not restricted to church
activities. It is available for use by
any person or organisation in the local community. Anyone wishing to hire the
hall should apply to the Church Wardens.

Home Watch
We now have a Rural Police Officer, Geraint Davies, who
operates from Dragon Hall Police Station, who welcomes any reports from local
residents regarding incidents that cause them concern. If you experience an
incident that does concern you and you have e-mail facilities he can be
contacted on geraint.davies@cheshire.pnn.police.uk You should also contact your zonal homewatch
coordinator in the village. The telephone number for Dragon Hall Police Station
is 01829 771293, if that number is not responding call Chester Police Station
on 01244 350222. BUT if a burglary is taking place or an intruder is on your
premises ring 999 immediately.
If you require any assistance or help on security matters,
contact Graham Marsden of the Crime Prevention Panel for our area, he can be
contacted by e-mail at graham@gmarsden.fsnet.co.uk
or by telephone 01829 771641.
Residents should be aware that there are a number
of scams currently about, if anyone asks for your Credit Card number for
apparent “checking” purposes do not give it, or if a caller says that they are
acting on behalf of the Data Protection Agency refuse to answer their
questions. If incidents of this nature occur contact PC Geraint Davies
immediately. Beware of bogus callers saying that they are from the Utilities
Companies, or from any firm that calls and says that they will install an alarm
system, only deal with people that you know about or have been recommended, if
you do receive a call, contact the police.
Tiverton Homewatch
We have had an urgent plea for dog walkers who use the
pavement between The Old Post Office and the Stocks Bank Village Green to
please collect their “litter” and take it home. This litter is now intruding on private pathways and drives and
is causing some distress.
