PARISH
NEWS
June 2004
At the Parish Council Annual Meeting in May I
agreed to remain Chairman for another year so that Liz Scott can concentrate on
leading the development of the Parish Plan which should be completed by the end
of the year. The recent History Day confirmed my thoughts that people want to
have a sense of belonging to the community. I hope that I can help to develop
that in the coming year as well as dealing with the routine business of the
Parish Council.
Village Fete
We are at that time of year again when the
Village Fete is upon us and this year it is on Saturday 26 June
At
the Deeside Ramblers Hockey Club from 1200- 1615 followed by the Childrens Free
Party and the Evening Dance in the
Hall. The Dance costs £5 per per ticket including supper. Numbers are limited
and people need to bring their own drinks.
A
great deal of work has been done by Audrey Povall and her small team but we
still need some volunteers to help on the day with various stalls and events.
If you can help please contact Audrey on 733520 or myself on 732059. If you
would like to donate something for the Tombola it would be appreciated, please
give items to Audrey at Castle View.
Each
year we are trying to improve the fete and this year we have a clown, a
miniature railway for the children and a steam powered car as added
attractions.
Our
MP Mr Stephen O’Brien has kindly agreed to open the event and judge the Fancy Dress
Competition at 12.00.
We
will be making a donation from the proceeds of the day to Tarporley Cottage
Hospital.
Parish Clerk
We
have appointed a new Parish Clerk Cathy Day who lives at Old Post Office
Cottage. Cathy can be contacted at 01829 730807.
I
would like at this point to express the thanks of the Parish Council for the
hard work and support of Clare Gregory our previous Clerk who did a superb job.
We all wish her and husband Rob the very best and hope that this years maize
maze venture is a great success.

Village
Hall
The
Drop In Coffee Morning at the Village Hall (last Wednesday in each month) is
proving popular with an average attendance of over 10 persons and a variety of discussion
topics including U3A (University of Third Age), Parish Plan, and Village
History Day. There are online
facilities and tuition for the inexperienced.
